Opera while you shop!

Birmingham Opera Company and Ex Cathedra, Arts Champions for Ladywood District

On an ordinary day in March, we decided to give shoppers at Springhill Tesco Superstore something a little extraordinary - a performance by two of our professional soloists, Joseph Guyton and Stephanie Corley, who will be playing Prince Andrei and Emma in our upcoming production, KHOVANSKYGATE: A National Enquiry.
Accompanied by the wonderful Sergey Rybin on piano, the singers performed a repertoire of opera favourites from Tosca, Madame Butterfly and Othello.

Birmingham Opera Company present a new production of Musorgsky’s KHOVANSKYGATE: A National Enquiry.

We kicked off in Spring 2013 with a special digital and performance project in partnership with BBC Birmingham built on the beautiful song cycle, Songs and Dances of Death. Now in 2014, we're mounting a new production of Musorgsky's Khovanskygate: A National Enquiry with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
